Beware of Cat

When playing with a cat that likes to use it's teeth and claws, it's probably a good idea to not use your bare hands.

These are the scratchesgouges that Spike gave me today:

Spike's Work

Of course, I really do know better, having been around cats all my life.

Ah well, they should be fine by next week.

Declawing cats is cruel and unnecessary. It's an amputation of the first digit of every foot. The recovery process is painful. The surgery can lead to nerve damage. Declawed cats often develop numerous behavioral problems. They're often surrendered to shelters and are hard to adopt.

A month or so back, we saw a cat which was declawed that we really wanted to adopt, but we couldn't take the risk of it being hurt by Spike (who, while not innately violent is a very large cat, very excitable and can do as you see in the above).
