Sign an NDA for Windows refund?
Article on slashdot: guy wants a refund for the bundled Windows license that came with his Lenovo laptop but in order to get the refund, they make him go through one additional hoop: sign an NDA that covered the negotiations process, and all the other hoops he had to go through.
This case is unique because it illustrates the increasing insanity that Windows vendors feel the need to do because of the increasingly common demands for these refunds.
I get the feeling that asking for an NDA will soon be a common thing. Unless, of course, the blogosphere generates enough bad publicity. Exactly what is there here to protect, other than MS' bottom line? If the EULA is a legal document (as proprietary software vendors claim), then you can't change the contract by requiring additional steps to fulfill a provision on it.
